Gregaldur (France)
You’re wondering what « Shtsrzyhzyhzyhzyhzyhzyhzyhzyhzyhzyhtj » means? So are we. It’s the name of Gregaldur's artistic project. To discover this world, it is probably best to go on a guided tour with the artist himself. Musician, composer, artist, filmmaker, entertainer - this multifaceted individual created four short films using singular animation styles with playdough, iron wire, matches and strings. Four scenes will be presented, the goal being the creation of a musical universe for young ones aged 6 and over, as well as for the grown-ups.
> OOPS! SAID THE PAINTERS
1984 / 9 min / playdough
Two clumsy, playful painters have to paint the palisade of a factory. A pot of yellow paint, a pot of blue paint.. Before long, green takes over and spreads everywhere - palisade, cabins, chimney. The two playdough silhouettes become deformed, get destroyed and reconstruct, all while wreaking havoc in a slapstick universe.
> CONFLICT
1983 / 7 min / matches
A community of matches live cramped in their box, a situation that inevitably leads to problems. A conflict arises until it reaches a fiery end.
> DECORATION
1987 / 10 min / iron wire
Recipient of Cannes’ Short Film Palme d’Or (1988).
An iron wire gives birth to a man. The latter builds everything he dreams of: house, dog, garden… and he encloses everything around a metal fence. What’s the point of this overprotection?
> ADAGIO
2000 / 10 min / folded paper
A white paper bird arrives in the land of grey paper birds...
